Most places in the Whiteshell will have that real hard Canadian Shield hiding just a few feet below the surface, or it will be completely exposed. Rock Drilling is a great option for your foundation here. We drill a hole right into that rock and then hammer the pipe into the hole, so it won’t be moving
ever again.

These piles are very similar to screw piles in that we can install right through the winter, and you can build on them immediately. No heating, no hoarding, just pile and then continue with your project.

Ice Drilling
If you’re building a dock or a boathouse, rock drilled piles are the best option there too. We wait for the dead of winter when the ice is nice and thick, then we head out and drill these pipes down into the rock right off the ice. It works great.
